SiVIC Winter Holiday Assembly

The SiVIC Board would like to invite our Affiliates, friends, Interreligious Leaders Forum members and supporters to a special Winter Holiday Assembly in Sunnyvale. Come meet your friends and neighbors in the interreligious community, hear some reflections from the recent Parliament of the World’s Religions meeting in Salt Lake City, and enjoy vegetarian finger foods prepared by the Chung Tai Zen Center.

Parliament of the World’s Religions

Over 30 people from our area have already registered to attend the Parliament. The conference theme is Reclaiming the Heart of Our Humanity, and speakers will include the Dalai Lama, Dr. Karen Armstrong, Dr. Tariq Ramadan, Oscar Arias Sanchez, Dr. Eboo Patel, Valarie Kaur, and many more. Hundreds of workshops, films, exhibits, and the opportunity to meet and talk with thousands of people from around the world coming together for peace and cooperation make it an event not to be missed!

Parliament SpeakersThe Parliament includes 10,000 people from over 80 nations and 50 faith traditions. It is the largest interfaith gathering anywhere.

Parliament of the World's ReligionsWe have just received word that our proposal for a panel discussion at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Salt Lake City in October has been accepted! Our presentation, “From Partner City to Interreligious Council: Promoting a Just and Compassionate Society” will cover what we have learned over the past several years as SiVIC was founded and as we have grown and developed our work to make a more just and compassionate society.  The panelists will include Rev. Interrelgious Leaders Forum: Parliament of World’s Religions

In 2009, a delegation from Silicon Valley traveled to Melbourne, Australia to accept the designation of “Partner City” bestowed by the Parliament of the World’s Religions, the world’s largest interreligious gathering. One of the outcomes of that recognition was the creation of SiVIC in 2011.

This year, the next Parliament of the World’s Religions will be meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, from October 15-19. We invite you to come and discover what the Parliament is, hear from those who have attended in the past, and find out what is planned for the upcoming Parliament.

The Parliament of the World’s Religions is the largest international interreligious gathering, bringing together 10,000 attendees from 80 countries and 50 religious and spiritual traditions.
